First, a number of dry fruits, seeds and spices were added to a grinder to make a fine paste including almonds, cardamom, rose petals, black pepper and more. Then, this paste was added to a muslin cloth and tied tightly and added to a drum of water. Thus, the extract of the paste was mixed into the water to give it an interesting flavour. Sugar, milk and ice were added to the shardai drink which was served chilled.
